Privacy Policy

Bombo helps you improve your English accent. We built it to respect your privacy: your voice recordings are processed entirely on your device and are never uploaded to us or anyone else.

This policy explains what we collect, why, and the control you have over it.

Your voice stays on your device

When you practice, Bombo records short clips and analyzes them right on your phone to score your pronunciation.

• These recordings never leave your device. We do not upload, store, or have any access to them.
• The speech analysis runs fully offline using on-device models.
• Deleting your account removes any saved practice recordings from your device.

What we collect

We keep data collection to a minimum:

• Account: On iOS, if you sign in with Apple, we store an anonymous Apple identifier so your progress stays tied to your account. We never receive your real name or email unless you choose to share them, and Apple's Hide My Email is fully supported. On Android, Bombo currently runs as a guest account with a random handle, so no sign-in and no personal identifier at all.
• Progress: Your lessons, scores, XP, streak, and badges, so the app can track your improvement. On iOS this can sync across your devices through your private iCloud; on Android it stays on your device.
• Purchases: Your subscription status, handled through the App Store or Google Play and our payments provider (RevenueCat). We never see your card details.
• Notifications: If you turn on reminders, they are scheduled so we can remind you to practice. On iOS a device token is registered; on Android reminders are scheduled right on your device.
• Anonymous analytics: We collect anonymous, aggregated usage events (like "lesson completed") to learn which features actually help. They are never tied to your identity and never contain recordings. You can turn this off anytime with "Help improve Bombo" in Settings.

What we never do

• We never sell your data or share it with advertisers.
• We do not use advertising identifiers (IDFA) or track you across other apps or websites.
• We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, phone number, or browsing history.
• We do not use your voice recordings to train any models.

Third-party services

We rely on a few trusted services to run the app, and each receives only the minimum needed:

• Apple (Sign in with Apple, iCloud, the App Store) on iOS for your account, sync, and purchases.
• Google Play on Android for purchases.
• RevenueCat to manage your subscription status, which receives an anonymous user ID and purchase info.
• PostHog for anonymous product analytics, which you can turn off anytime.
• Supabase, which receives a simple anonymous "app was opened" ping so we can see overall activity.

None of these services ever receive your voice recordings.

Your choices and rights

• Analytics: Turn "Help improve Bombo" on or off anytime in Settings.
• Delete everything: Settings → Delete Account permanently removes your profile, progress, recordings, and associated data. This cannot be undone.
• Notifications: Manage reminders in Settings or in your device Settings.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights such as access, correction, deletion, or portability. Email us and we will help.

Children

Bombo is intended for people aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.

Data retention

We keep your data only while your account is active. When you delete your account, your data is removed. Anonymous analytics, if you enabled them, are retained only in aggregate form.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we will update this page and the date above, and notify you in the app where appropriate.
